6063-T4 aluminum is 6063 aluminum in the T4 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is artificially aged until it meets standard mechanical property requirements. The graph bars on the material properties cards below compare 6063-T5 aluminum to: 6000-series alloys (top), all aluminum alloys (middle), and the entire database (bottom). A full bar means this is the highest value in the relevant set. A half-full bar means it’s 50% of the highest, and so on.
6063 aluminum sheet advantages 1. Heat treatment hardening, high impact toughness, 2. Excellent thermoplastic 3. Good welding performance and corrosion resistance, no stress corrosion cracking tendency 4. After processing the surface is very smooth, and easy anodizing and coloring.
6063 VS 6061 One key difference is that 6061 is the stronger of the two, and in the T6 temper its strength is approximately equal to structural steel. As such, it is often used for structural applications. One advantage of 6063, on the other hand, is that it’s easier to form into complex shapes with smooth surfaces. It is also very suitable for anodizing.
