7005 vs 6061 Aluminum,Which Is the Best?

Both 7005 aluminum and 6061 aluminum are aluminum alloys. They have a moderately high 95% of their average alloy composition in common. For each property being compared, the top bar is 7005 aluminum and the bottom bar is 6061 aluminum.

Aluminum alloys are highly resistant to corrosion. They are sensitive to high temperatures ranging between 200 and 250°C (392 and 482°F), and tend to lose some of their strength. However, the strength of Aluminium / Aluminum alloys can be enhanced at subzero temperatures, thus making them good low-temperature alloys. Aluminium / Aluminum 7005 alloy is a wrought alloy type. The following datasheet will provide more details about Aluminium / Aluminum 7005 alloy.

7005 aluminum sheet belongs to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu super hard aluminum, good welding performance, heat treatment can be strengthened, the strength is less than 6061, but it is lighter as a typical lightweight aluminum. 7005 Aluminum Alloy plate sheet often used in making welded structure have both high strength and high fracture toughness, such as transport vehicles, truss rod, container; large heat exchanger, and after welding can not be solid melt processing components; also can be used in the manufacture of sports equipment such as tennis racket and baseball bat.
