5005 aluminum vs 6061

5005 h24 aluminum alloy is an aluminium alloy with good resistance to atmospheric corrosion. It is used in decorative and architectural applications. It is a member of the 5000 series of aluminum-magnesium wrought alloys. As such, it is not used in casting. It can attain moderate to high strength by cold working, and has relatively high welded strength compared to other aluminum alloy families. Tempers H116 and H321 can be used in fresh and salt water.

5052-H32 Aluminum Sheet Superior corrosion resistance, good weldability, with excellent formability, makes 5052 Aluminum Sheet a common choice for chemical, marine or saltwater applications. 5052 Aluminum Sheet applications include: tanks, marine hardware, boat hulls, etc.

5005 aluminum sheet machinability is generally poor, especially in the soft temper conditions. However it can be machined, but with more difficulty than many of the aluminum alloys. Machining in the harder tempers, such as H34, H38, is better than in the soft temper condition.

6061 T6 Aluminum Sheet is an aluminum sheet product that is very versatile and has a wide range of applications. 6061 Aluminum sheet is made from one of the most widely used heat treatable aluminum alloys. This sheet has excellent corrosion resistance, good workability and good machinability. 6061 sheet applications include a wide variety of products from medical assemblies, aircraft construction to structural components. 6061 t6 aluminum sheet has a high strength to weight ratio making it ideal for any application where parts need to be light.
