2024 T3 aluminum sheet has same characteristics as tubing, however, the sheet is alclad for corrosion resistance. Alclad is a metallurgically bonded aluminum or aluminum alloy coating that is anodic to the core, thus electrolytically protecting the core against corrosion. Tensile strength 70,000 psi, yield strength 50,000 psi.
Anodized Aluminum sheet products and components are used in thousands of commercial, industrial and consumer applications, including: Structures and architectural categories of all types Appliances Commercial and residential building products Food preparation equipment Furniture Sporting goods and boats Motor vehicle components
Aluminum Alloy 6061 sheets are the most versatile of the heat treatable aluminum alloys. Though less strong than most of the 2000 and 7000 alloys, 6061 aluminum provides an extensive range of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance and can be fabricated by many of the commonly used practices. In the “”O”” temper or annealed condition, alloy 6061 has good formability. In the T4 condition, fairly severe forming can be done; whereas, in the T6 condition, properties may be obtained by artificial aging.
